Matthew Zarbatany, Jr. is a 2L at American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. He is a legal intern with the Advocacy and Litigation Department where he assists the League’s lawyers with legal research and litigation support, including ongoing cases and matters.
Before law school, Matthew graduated from Virginia Tech in 2022 with Bachelor’s Degrees in History and Political Science. After his 1L year, he interned with the County Attorney’s Office in Prince William County, Virginia, and worked on employment, Virginia civil procedure, and property law. Matthew became interested in voting rights and elections throughout high school and college. He recently served as an Election Officer in Prince William County in the 2023 Virginia Elections.
Outside of school, Matthew is an avid Washington Capitals hockey fan. He also enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and going to restaurants in his free time.
