Elections cost money. But money shouldn't be able to buy elections. Fair and clean elections, determined by the votes of American citizens, should be at the center of our democracy. The League supports legislation that will enhance disclosure, combat corruption and fix the public financing system.

  • New and Updated LWVUS Positions Adopted in 2016
    LWVUS Board and Convention adopted the following positions during the last biennium (2014-2016). Positions on the constitutional amendment process and an update of the Leagues money in politics position were adopted after careful study and consideration by Leagues across the country. Two positions covering redistricting and behavioral health were adopted by consensus at the LWVUS 2016 convention.

League Urges IRS to Adopt New 501 (c) (4) Regulations

The League of Women Voters joined with other concerned organization to urge the Internal Revenue Service to adopt new regulations that properly interpret the statutory eligibility requirements to qualify for tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(4) “social welfare” organization.
