I have been searching for 15 minutes just trying to find the pages relating to the three studies adopted at Convention 2014! Very frustrating. With no sucess!
Why can't I find them doing a search under our work, forums, etc.?????
I would think that such important, current information should be easily available with a simple search.
Hi Sandy. I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems locating webpages for the 3-part Key Structures of Democracy that was adopted at Convention for this biennium. Thanks very much for reaching out. Here is the information you seek.
Money in Politics Review and Update is at
Constitutional Amendment Processes Study is at
Committees for both of these program items are hard at work preparing background papers and consensus materials. Please check their webpages often for updates. The weekly online League Update will also keep members posted about the committees' work and what Leagues can do.
Redistricting is the third part of Key Structures. This not a study, but a task force carried over from the previous biennium. The task force has gathered data on how legislative districts are determined across the US and redistricting positions held by Leagues. A complete report on their findings is forthcoming. Watch for it!
Please join the Money in Politics Review member discussion forum. It's a wonderful spot for sharing information and asking questions about work that Leagues are doing in this area.
FYI, to access the study webpages without having the URLs, tap 'Members' on the red banner at the top of the lwv.org homepage. Then go to the 'Our Work' drop down and you will find them listed. As they pertain to member studies, they are found on the member side.
We are trying to set our meeting schedule for next year Next week and we need to know now when materials will be available. Do you have a timeline?
Olivia Thorne, LWV Central Delaware County, PA
Thanks for your question and for including the Money in Politics Review and Update in planning your LWV year.
You will find the Money in Politics timeline on our webpage,
We are happy to report that the MIP Committee is on schedule. We are working hard to provide Leagues with ready-to-use materials for their member and community meetings. These include a series of issue papers, a PowerPoint presentation and reading list, some of which are already posted. These materials are designed to inform LWV members and the public about money in politics, an issue that is both complex and critical to our democracy.
We suggest that Leagues form a study committee to review these resources and plan events. If possible, we recommend that Leagues hold an educational meeting as well as a consensus meeting. As the Timeline shows, consensus questions will be posted in Fall 2015; and the deadline for submitting reports from LWV consensus meetings is February 1, 2016.
